Lake Como, Italy, New Year’s Eve. The perfect place to fall in love? Or the perfect place for everything to fall apart?
This mesmerising, magical tale is told from the points of view of two lovely ladies – Lucy and Taggie.
Lucy thinks she has it all. Despite her fair share of bad dates and men in general, she has met Pete. To her, Pete is perfect, but what is he hiding?! Lucy begins to wonder if all is as it seems when he appears to have mysterious phone calls which lead to Lucy snooping in his apartment and stumbling upon a photo of his glamorous ex-girlfriend. Lucy’s insecurities begin to surface, but will a trip to Lake Como – her favourite place, ease her worries or make them worse!?
Taggie, the poor little mite, is emotionally scarred. She uses life to distract her and Lake Como to hide behind. Taggie ran away from her problems and moved to Italy as a means of putting things behind her. But Taggie hasn’t got over what happened back home, that is until an infuriating stranger who goes by the name of Marco, manages to wheedle himself into her life and mind. Is happiness on the horizon for Taggie?! I sure hoped so.
Lucy and Taggie might not know it, but their lives are about to collide. The New Year might begin with fireworks – but how will it end?
Isabelle Broom writes beautifully; full of emotion and magic. She has put so much love into creating Lucy and Taggie. Their characteristics are unique and so real. As for Pete though, I could have punched him in the head a few times but he does mean well, and he comes through in the end which is the main thing.
Two separate storylines whirl together and lure you in. This book shows that no matter what pain you have felt; whether losing a child, a bad break-up… the list could go on…, it is up to you to find your happy ever after. Every single one of us deserves happiness, but you have to let it in and take a chance, as it might just pay off!
Thank you so much to Sarah Harwood at Michael Joseph for my advanced review copy. This book deserves a big fat ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ from me! Well done Isabelle, you have done it yet again, another stunning read.
